Take a journey through Africa from north to south. Chef, Portia, has assembled a host of dishes; some learnt at her mother's side others collected on her travels. Whether it is finger foods hawked at a roadside in Malawi or a steaming plate served under a thatched khaya, all African meals are shared. There are no starters or main courses. Portia heaps your plate and heaps it again with a feast of dishes that celebrate our continent.
The Africa Cafe was born one on the windy Lower Main Rd, Obs when Portia (the owner's) brother, Hector, joined in with Jo'burg marketing zeal and spanked the baby into noisy life. Here the Communal Feast was launched. Bringing together Mom's reliable recipes to which Portia added many inspired new ones; like Kenyan Irio Patties and Cape Ithanga Fritters.
